The client
When property and construction consultants Reid Mitchell needed to improve their cyber security and update their digital environment, they decided to switch their IT support to Texaport.
Reid Mitchell is an independent firm that provides project management, building surveying and CDM consultancy services to clients. They are focused on helping their clients achieve their property asset goals, by combining a personal service with commercial insight and dedication to the details of each new project.
Reid Mitchell was established in 2018 by co-founders Donald Reid and Greig Mitchell. Today, their team is growing rapidly and they now run offices in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The challenge
Before partnering with Texaport, Reid Mitchell had ended a contract with their previous managed service provider. They were looking for a new supplier that was highly responsive, with an approachable helpdesk and excellent customer service.
Reid Mitchell wanted to enhance their cyber protection and ensure continued compliance with the cyber security requirements of their clients. Boosting their digital defences would also increase their chances of securing new contracts to solidify their reputation.
With a team expanding across Scotland's two largest cities, Reid Mitchell didn’t have an IT solution in place to support and empower employees working away from the office.
They were using Microsoft 365 in GoDaddy but were finding the available packages inflexible and unfit for the growing company. They had trouble sharing files internally which was limiting their ability to collaborate.
For their flourishing business to continue growing successfully, they needed a trustworthy external partner to take over the management of their IT and cyber security.
The solution
Holistic Cyber security
Reid Mitchell needed a solution that would proactively and holistically defend their IT environment against cyber attacks. Their goal was to attain the Cyber Essentials certification, a Government backed scheme designed to protect organisations of all sizes from digital threats.
To achieve this, we first carried out an audit of all company devices, cloud services, and policies to fully understand the current state of their security. We then compared these findings to the specifications outlined by the certifying body, to find the gaps.
Having identified the areas that needed work, we provided guidance to Reid Mitchell on how best to fortify those areas, and worked with them to action those suggestions and submit for certification.
We also set up a best-in-class security solution to constantly monitor all Reid Mitchell endpoints for Malware, viruses, and other cyber threats. This system secured their company data across SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams by preventing, flagging and countering attacks.
Digital transformation / Microsoft 365 expertise
After reviewing their existing IT landscape, we advised Reid Mitchell to migrate their business data from GoDaddy to Microsoft 365, and that they upgrade from Windows Home to Microsoft Intune on their company computers.
With our specialist expertise in Microsoft 365, we knew that it would give the Reid Mitchell team a greater variety of packages, with the inbuilt flexibility to scale as their business grows. Microsoft 365 has a transparent pricing structure and a world class support team.
By supporting Reid Mitchell to pivot to using the Microsoft suite, we were able to oversee the management of all their products, tools, and software through a single secure portal.

The results
With Texaport’s backing, Reid Mitchell achieved their urgent primary objective of completing the Cyber Essentials certification. This satisfied the cyber security requirements of their existing clients thereby securing their business. It also paved the way for them to take on new contracts by removing any hesitation that future clients might have about their security position.
The digital transformation services Texaport provided by moving Reid Mitchell away from GoDaddy and wholly onto Microsoft 365, boosted collaboration and productivity within the firm.
