Edinburgh IT support specialist Texaport has teamed up with Carbon Footprint Ltd to launch a new service aimed at helping clients lower their carbon footprint by offsetting the emissions of their information technology communication (ITC) equipment and infrastructure.
ICT-related carbon accounts for a an estimated 3.7% of global greenhouse emissions and is expected to double by 2025.* This figure accounts for all ICT usage, significantly bolstered by work-related operations.
Through its new service, Texaport will enable businesses, public sector bodies and charities to offset these emissions and assist their journey towards zero carbon status. It includes a detailed audit of a client’s carbon footprint and, in partnership with Carbon Footprint Ltd, tracking and reduction of carbon emissions ‘at source’ where possible. Unavoidable emissions are offset through donations to sustainability projects focused on biodiversity, education, jobs, food security, clean drinking water and heath & well-being in developing countries.
